Christmas in the Mountains

There's something about spending a family Christmas in the mountains that just makes Christmas special. I don't know if its the smell of the evergreens, the lights, more food than should really be eaten by one family alone, grandkids running around like they'd just won the lottery, Grandma Doris' large, loud polar bear and two "back-up" penguins who sang at you every time you walked by, or the fact that Santa definitely had our address.... something just made it magical!

We celebrated with Russ' side of our family the weekend before Christmas in Ruidoso, NM. As you can see by the pics, we all had a lot of fun. The only thing missing was a good snowfall for sledding!

Jerry's beautiful log home all lit up for us.

Looks like our Chinese daughter will have no trouble fitting in thanks to Cade!

Hud remembered that PaPaw had deer at his house, so he was prepared this trip to shoot one. His "gun" is of his own making, a wodden, rubberband shooter that looks like a pistol, with my vacuum hose extension for the barrel.

Grandma Doris standing still long enough for a pic is quite a feat!
Always wear your helmet! Especially when it's a Dallas Cowboy helmet, and you've been wanting one since this summer!
Scooters for all the grandkids was quite a hoot!

A little friendly game of Dominoes for the grown-ups!
