A special Sunday!

Today, one of our good friends and member of my small group was baptized. Our church allows people to be baptized by someone other than the pastor, so she chose her husband, who has played a big role in her spiritual growth. Afterwards, we had a good-old-fashioned potluck to celebrate. Oh by the way, those cute twins, and the other adorable baby in the group pic were delivered by the friend who was baptized.

Multiple Blessings

Today the kids and I went to "school." There's a playgroup at a local elementary once a week. The classroom is filled with everything imaginable for preschoolers to play with. Today, it was a playgroup especially for twins. The kids love going!

Rainy Day!

Usually when I go in to get the kids from their cribs in the morning, I'll open the blinds, and one of them will say, "Sunny Day!" Well, today they woke up to a dark, stormy day with "ice balls" (hail) falling from the sky. They really enjoyed watching the action. They also experienced their first tornado siren. I just grabbed the M&M's and took them downstairs to check the t.v.. Turns out, it was in our county, but not close. After dinner, we all took a walk, and let Hud and Han play in all of the puddles. They had so much fun. No telling how far they walked! Maybe they'll be so tired, they'll sleep in tomorrow! Ha!

Today I strung up a clothesline and hung Hud's baseball from it so that he could have some hitting practice, and learn to keep his eye on the ball. He loves his "new toy"! The only problem is that it frequently gets stuck up in the tree, requiring constant help from Mom or Dad.

Not the Usual Teddy Bear

Well, Hud didn't cooperate for a picture yesterday, so when I went in to check on him before going to bed, I couldn't help but snap a quick one. He usually insists on having a ball to sleep with every nap and night.

For those Hud fans out there, I don't have a cute pic of him, because he refused to cooperate. But this afternoon, after much begging, he talked me into taking him in the wagon to watch the baseball practice down the street. When I said, "yes," he had to run back inside to grab his bat and ball. After intently watching practice for about ten minutes, he started yelling, "Doe, doe doe! (Go)," whenever they hit the ball and started running the bases. About twenty minutes later, I asked him if he was ready to go. He quickly said, "nope!" On the way home, he talked me into stopping by a girls' sawta (soccer) practice. He loves sports!

Han's got a baby in her tummy

Tonight at dinner Han informed us that she had a baby in her tummy. She lifted up her shirt, and pooched out her tummy. She said it was a girl, and her name is Dobie-Tawtie. She's such a little mommy!

He's already a cowboy!

Isn't he just darling! Sorry, I can't help it but I have a little soft spot for him! Hud is already so into cowboy stuff. His PaPaw gave him a little book about a ranch that we read first thing almost every morning. His latest thing to say 100 times a day is, "Ah wyd it." (translation: "I ride it!" Meaning: "If you happen to see a horse walk by, let me know, cuz I'll ride it!") The other day he was needing a haircut and haircuts happen to be pretty much his least favorite thing to do. So I told him that if he would sit really still, I would give him a cowboy haircut. Let me tell you, those were the magic words! I accomplished the haircut, and Hud is pretty proud of it! (For those of you who don't know what a cowboy haircut is, it's not something that the average person would recognize, but if you're a two-year-old and you've got one, you're feeling really cool!)

Trip to the Zoo

We went to the zoo this morning with a friend. The weather was beautiful, and the kids were animated! The highlights were the giant turtles and the gorilla who started making faces, and sticking his lips on the glass and making all the kids squeal with delight (see photo below)

Where'd you get that reindeer?

So I'm learning that it's not normal for two-year-olds to know the difference between deer and elk. Yesterday I watched a friend's kids for the morning. When we went downstairs to play, the 5 1/2 year old pointed up at Russ' mule deer and said, "Where'd you get that reindeer?" (Anyone else out there who can relate to the difficulties of trying to decorate with dead animals?)

Hunting (for Easter eggs that is)

This Easter was our third Easter as a family of four. Last year the twins were a little too young to understand the whole egg hunt. So this year, I decided to get them ready the night before. I told them that tomorrow was a special church day. It was Easter and we were going to a special church service, we would get to wear our new outfits, and when we got home from church, we were going to have an Easter egg hunt. Now if you know my husband, you'll understand this next part... No longer had I said the word, "hunt," when Han piped up with excitement in her voice and said, "deer?!" I said, "no," and before I could explain further she said, "elk?!" Yes, he's already indoctrinated them! Here are a few pics of our Easter Sunday (bet you're surprised the kids aren't wearing camo!)
